First YouTube Post: Our daughter tearing up the ski slopes after six hours of training. Video 1
She’s the one in the pink hat and pink pants. She’s enrolled in the local Powder Pigs program and clearly it’s paying off.

Burned by the Canon Elura-40mc. The Infamous “Remove Cassette” Problem
I won’t go too much into this other than my beloved Canon Elura 40MC just failed with the “Remove Cassette” problem. It has all the symptoms described at: http://www.camcorderinfo.com/bbs/t19001.html

We’ve had it for five years and used it lightly. It’s old enough not to fix and new enough to ensure I’ll never buy another Canon product. What really sucks is that I actually recommended these things to several people who bought them.
What a disaster.

Home Networking
Is it just me or is it really hard to find home networking products online? I’m talking about patch panels RJ-45 connectors Cable TV connectors, etc…
Anyhow, that’s the next job on the list with our equity money. My father-in-law and I already ran one RJ-6 and three cat-5e drops to every room in the house. At the time, I only had the funds to terminate a few of the runs so now I’m working on finishing the job.
Tomorrow I’ll be shopping for RJ-45 and RJ-6 patch panels and stand-off. I’ll let you know how it goes.
Home Improvements
What’s the cost of owning your own home? Really? We’ll, I’m learning quickly what the cost is and it’s steep. Though I suspect it’s worth it.
Now that we’ve been in the house for a couple years and built up some equity, we’ve decided to take out a home equity loan and fix some things up. This is justified/required as it’s a twenty year old home and could use some repairs and freshening. We’ve committed to only using the loan for capitol improvements to the house. Not new video cards or shoes ![]()
The first big job’s finished and you can find information about it in another post to this site. Next in line are re-modeling the master bedroom, both bathrooms, and finishing the wiring system we installed three years ago. Stay tuned for posts as to how they’re going.
